Operational support
Surf Coast Helicopters operational support is 24-hours for 365 days of the year. Our staff are experienced in all areas of helicopter operations and will assist with any enquiry. Operational support from Surf Coast Helicopters, however, extends far beyond being available on the end of a telephone day and night.
Maintenance planning
Planning is key. Maintenance cannot be ignored but neither can the flying requirements of the aircraft owner. So maintenance, carefully planned in advance, anticipating the flying hours of the helicopter by knowing the day to day usage of the aircraft inside out, keeps all parties happy. When maintenance is not planned aircraft can be grounded causing massive inconvenience.
Surf Coast Helicopters has been operating helicopters for ten years and knows how important it is to keep aircraft downtime to a minimum by ensuring maintenance is planned in a timely, convenient manner for the operation. For any helicopter managed by us we make it our priority to understand the aircraft’s operational commitments, whether they be seasonal or a strict monthly routine and plan maintenance inputs in advance best to suit all aspects of the operation.
Flight crew provision
Surf Coast Helicopters has a team of highly skilled and experienced pilots. Their extensive experience and many hours flying different helicopter types means it is likely their expertise can be put to good use flying our customers’ aircraft.
Surf Coast Helicopters can also source crew for aircraft types outside of our pilots’ areas of expertise. With extensive contacts throughout the industry we will know someone with experience on type and would be happy to liaise on behalf of a customer.
Lease-back
Helicopters are built to fly. This may seem an obvious statement but realistically many privately owned helicopters have a lot of downtime. While a helicopter is sitting in a hangar waiting for its owner it could be flying and earning its keep.
Surf Coast Helicopters offers a lease-back service whereby a privately owned helicopter can be leased back to Surf Coast Helicopters to enable us to offer the aircraft for commercial charter. This way, when the aircraft is not required by its principal, it can earn revenue to assist with off-setting the cost of ownership.
Demand for charter hours in our helicopter charter operation often outstrips availability so with a potential market already waiting, it would be a prudent move to off-set your ownership costs.
Additional services
Regardless of whether your helicopter is being managed by Surf Coast Helicopters or not, we are able to offer a range of additional services in support of your operation. In the classroom and cockpit or out on the ground we can assist to ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible.
Ground support
In addition to our services in the air and from the operations office, we are able to offer ground support too through a network of third party suppliers.
Ground support services include, but are not limited to, fire cover, ground handling, night lighting, passenger briefings, refuelling and marshalling.
We use only companies with the very best experience who understand helicopter operations and who diligently ensure the safety of the customer and passengers above all else. Ground support staff have experience within the aviation fire service and meet all current regulations for the work they carry out.
If your operation requires assistance with any ground support services, please contact the Surf Coast Helicopters team.
Landing site approval
If you require your helicopter to land at a previously undesignated site (anywhere other than a fixed helipad, controlled airfield or airport) Surf Coast Helicopters has the expertise to search, survey and gain approval for such sites on your behalf.
You may know where you need to get to but do not know where it would be safe to put the helicopter down. If it is a popular venue you are visiting chances are Surf Coast Helicopters has surveyed and had the site approved for helicopter movements before. Dependent upon the obscurity of the site we will search and identify suitable sites from Ordnance Survey maps and other media, then send qualified pilots to survey the areas enabling us to advise on the safest site to meet your requirements.
The final part of this service is to gain regulatory approval for your chosen site. Provided the site meets with set criteria this is not a difficult process. However, completing the necessary paperwork and providing the correct back-up documentation is time consuming.
We would be delighted to advise on any aspect of the search, survey and approval of landing sites to ensure the safety of your operation.
